Re-opened and run almost entirely by volunteer enthusiasts who believe that the industrial heritage of Calderdale should be preserved and shared with everyone, the museum houses a special collection representing the wide variety of industries that developed in Calderdale in the last 250 years. The working exhibits can’t fail to evoke the spirit of the Industrial Revolution. Suitable for all, both young and old ! We are situated in the heart of Halifax’s growing “cultural quarter” adjacent to the Piece Hall, Halifax railway station, Square Chapel and the famous Eureka children’s museum and are considered one of the premier visitor attractions in Halifax.

Don’t forget to visit our cafe after your visit, where light lunches, snacks, hot drinks and delicious cake are served, and our wonderful shop selling unique locally made items.

We are open every Saturday from 10.00am to 4.00pm, with last entry 3.00pm. We are also open on most Thursdays in the school holidays.

Entrance fee: £5 per adult. Concessions £4. accompanied children enter free. We also offer an Annual Pass for £12 per adult that gives unlimited admission to the museum for 12 months.

Access is to the side of the Museum via our ramp and stairs, internally there are stairs and a lift to all floors. The whole museum is wheelchair accessible. Disabled Parking is available by prior request and there are accessible toilet facilities.

RAIL – Halifax station is 200 yards walk.

BUS – Halifax bus station has links to all nearby towns and cities. A short walk through the shopping centre and the Piece Hall will take you to Calderdale Industrial Museum, just outside the new East Gate of the Piece Hall.

CAR – The museum address is Square Road, Halifax, HX1 1QG. There is no dedicated parking for the museum but on-street, pay-and-display parking is available close by and there are several pay-and-display carparks near the Minster to the north east.

FAQs

  1. Can I bring my dog in ? The only dogs allowed into the museum and café are guide dogs or assistance dogs.
  2. Do carers have to pay the museum entry fee? Every person who needs a carer to assist them is entitled to free admission for their carer. The person who needs the carer has to pay an entry fee, unless they are a child.
  3. Can I visit the cafe and shop without paying an entry fee for the museum? Yes, visitors can come into the café and shop without paying an admission fee.
