Support our Full Steam Ahead Appeal

Help us raise funds to bring life back to our historic stationary steam engines – the power behind the Industrial Revolution.

Over the years the volunteers at the museum have been working hard to restore much of our industrial machinery to working order. We are delighted to say we have successfully raised funds to support the installation of a reconditioned more efficient boiler to provide steam power to our engines in the Power Gallery. The money has allowed us to install the boiler and recommission the four engines in the Power Gallery.

The museum is run entirely by volunteers and relies on the income from open days to continue developing and reinstating the collection. Every time we run our engines for the visitors it eats into our resources.

You now have the opportunity to support the museum by funding ‘Steam in the Power Gallery’

It costs £275 per day to run and keep the museum open to the public. To run our steam engines on an open day, we need a further £100 per day. Can you help? If you can donate the full amount, we will credit you on the day. All donations to help us run these amazing engines are gratefully received.

Baby Enid is a creation from our very talented member Tony Griffiths and is a model of Enid, our Newton Bean and Mitchell Horizontal engine in the power gallery, one of the four engines which will be running under steam.

Drop your coins in to Baby Enid’s cylinder and turn the flywheel to see your money drop into the collection pan. All donations collected by Baby Enid will go to the Full Steam Ahead Stream in the Power Gallery Appeal.
